Surrender FAQ

We know surrendering a pug is never an easy decision. Our goal is to make this process as compassionate, respectful, and supportive as possible—for both you and your pug.

Every pug we welcome into our rescue is placed in a loving foster home. Our fosters are experienced with the breed, and your pug will live right in the home as part of the family, often alongside other pugs. They receive daily care, attention, and lots of love while we prepare them for their forever home.

That’s okay. We accept pugs regardless of their medical status. Every pug receives a thorough exam with our rescue veterinarian upon intake, and we make sure they get the care they need moving forward.

We keep our adopters’ information private, but you are always welcome to reach out to us. We are happy to share updates on how your pug is doing.

The first step is to complete our surrender form and include a photo of your pug (or email one to us for verification). Once your form is reviewed and approved, a volunteer will contact you to coordinate transport and next steps to safely bring your pug into our care.

That’s something we’re very familiar with. We specialize in socializing pugs at their own pace. Through structured introductions, outings, events, and plenty of pug playdates, we help them build confidence and feel comfortable.

There is no surrender fee. We never want cost to be a barrier when a pug needs help. Donations are always appreciated and go directly toward the care of the pugs in our rescue.

Placement timing depends on each pug’s individual needs, especially medically. We ensure every pug is fully vetted and 100% medically cleared before being placed for adoption, so timelines can vary.

We know this part can be emotional. While you won’t be able to choose the adopter, we have a thorough 5-step approval process to ensure every pug is placed in a safe, loving, and appropriate home.

If you have them, please provide any medical records so we can avoid unnecessary or duplicate vaccinations. A small bag of their current food is also helpful so we can transition them comfortably. That said, many of our rescues come with nothing, and that is absolutely okay.

Yes, we do our best to help in urgent situations, as long as the dog is a pug. Please reach out to us as soon as possible so we can coordinate next steps.

We truly love all dogs. As a small rescue with a limited foster network, we are currently only able to take in purebred pugs. As we continue to grow and expand our foster team, this may change in the future.

We currently accept pugs from Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana.
